Medieval Bagpipes
I make medieval bagpipes. The external shape is based on engravings and woodcuts from the 13th–15th centuries, and I also incorporate my own ideas.
The drones are made with a cylindrical bore with single reeds; the chanter has a conical bore and a double reed. I also make instruments with a cylindrical bore and single reeds.
The bag can be leather or synthetic. I make chanter reeds from plastic, and drone reeds from wood with a synthetic tongue.
The sound of this instrument is loud and strident.
1 drone: G major / A minor or C major / D minor — chanter G/a or C/d
2 drones: bass G/a, tenor D/e — or bass C/d, tenor G/a
On request I can also make other keys and drone combinations.
